Podcasting has been around for about 10 years. In recent years, the genre has taken off as everyone now has the internet all the time in their pocket. In all that time, though, only a handful of youth ministry experts have attempted to make this medium work for our profession. There have been a couple notable successes, but as a whole we have lacked a diverse range of voices to help train, equip, and encourage youth workers.
Say hello to “This Week in Youth Ministry Podcast.”
Terrace Crawford, a long time youth ministry veteran, has recently launched “This Week In Youth Ministry”, a podcast for youth workers by a youth worker. Terrace is not an ivory tower theoretician, he is an in-the-trenches guy who knows what you are dealing with.
If you’ve never heard of Terrace before, this would be a good opportunity for you to find out about him. In addition to his many years in youth ministry, he also wrote a book called “Going Social”, a book for church leaders on how to navigate the waters of social media. He also created a coaching network for youth ministers as a way to mentor younger youth workers. Finally, he spent many years working with ChurchLeaders.com on their youth ministry section. Terrace knows what he’s talking about.
These podcasts aren’t just about Terrace, though. In the 3 episodes so far, he has brought in some great voices – Jeremy Lee from Parentministry.net, Mark Oestreicher from the Youth Cartel, and Stephanie Caro from Youth Ministry Architects. I am sure that there are a lot of other amazing people that will appear on the podcast in the near future.
I highly recommend checking out this podcast. We need more resources like this one. The running time in the first 3 seems to be between 40-55 minutes, which goes very quickly as you’re listening.
Terrace is giving away a GoPro camera in celebration of the launch. For more details of the giveaway, go to http://terracecrawford.com/blog/win-a-gopro/
