The iPhone 5 is rumored to be out in less than a month. IOS 5 will likely be released alongside it. Even the iPad 3 will probably be here early in 2012. So that means another installment of the best iOS apps for youth ministry. You can check out the previous articles by going back and read the previous articles, you can read the original from 2009, one from 2010, the updated one the beginning of this year, or the latest article from this past summer. Just a reminder, these are apps that have a use in ministry. So, no games or goofy apps. Also, most of the apps I use are free. If I pay for them, they have to be good.

Facebook Messenger

Facebook is vital to ministry. The Messenger app quickly exploded into being on my most used and important apps. Now I can communicate via messenger/chat on facebook wherever I go, and very easily. If you talk with teens on Facebook, you need this app.

PopNotes

This app might get superseded by new features in iOS5,  but right now its pretty cool. You going to the store, and need to be reminded to get some milk and cookies? You have a bunch of tasks to get done at home? You want to remember to pray for your students as you pass by their houses? You can set this app up to do that. It uses the location feature and pops up the post it notes when you get near.

my316

This is a cool little app that works through the plan of salvation. It has some videos as well. Its nothing earth shattering, but if you’re looking for some variety when you go and share the gospel, this could be a help.

Splice

This is a video editing app that might be better than iMovie. I’ve not played with it to its full extent, but it gives you much more control over your project. If you use a lot of pictures or video, its also faster. And, its free. Can’t beat that!

Pic Collage

If you like putting cool collages together, this app is great. It easily and quickly puts your pictures into a sweet collage that you then can save to your camera roll, upload to facebook, or print out.

Spotify

Spotify is the newest music service to debut, and it is awesome. They offer unlimited access to 15,000,000 songs, so practically any song you’re looking for you can find. The app is fast, even over 3g, and you can save songs for offline listening later if need be. The only downside is that, to use the app, you need to subscribe to the $10 a month service. Its worth it.

Google+

Google Plus has had a rough time of late, but they do have an awesome iPhone app. Its slick and streamlined, and you can do practically anything that you can do on the browser version.

Greplin

You likely have information strewn across multiple services – email, facebook, twitter, calendar, etc. If you need to find something, you can spend a long time tracking it down. Greplin indexes this information, and provides you with a quick and easy search to find it. It also suggests what you might be looking for, depending on upcoming events.

Vlix

Vlix is another video editor that provides some interesting features. I probably wouldn’t use it to edit a full video, but it has some cool effects to use on clips. You can do slo-mo, fast forward, reverse, and a bunch of colorizing effects. The only slightly annoying part is that it uploads your video to its server, where it does the hard processing work, and then you can download it to your phone. It also tries to be like “Instagram” for video but I have no desire to do that. The effects are why I use it.

These are the newest apps I’ve been using. How about you? Got any cool apps to shre?
