- Baby update – no baby yet, but we are scheduled to get the baby out next Friday. So no matter what by this time next week #3 will be out and ready to rumble.
- I took my son to the Air Force Museum here in Dayton yesterday. Its a cool experience if you’ve never been. Its also a free activity, which is awesome for the unemployed trying to find stuff to do for his kids.
- While at the AF Museum, I couldn’t help but see all the pictures of young men (and some women) who put their lives on the line to reach for new frontiers, fight for freedom, and soar for the stars. Think of how those generations faced those challenges. That got me thinking about the challenge that our generation and the one following mine (the teens we minister to) face. Where is our world war, moon mission, cold war, or technological revolution? Could this be “whats wrong” with America today? I might explore this in a blog post later.
- Last update on our dog – the cast came off her leg, and despite a slight limp she’s back to her old (pretty stupid) self. Its amazing that she went from nearly dead, to probably half paralyzed, to fully healed in less than 4 weeks.
- If you are looking for someone to pray for, I could use some in the next few weeks. I am still looking for a youth ministry position, and there are a couple of possibilities out there. Just pray that God opens some doors, because once the baby is born I am really going to have to start working full time somewhere to pay the bills. I wouldn’t stop looking for a ministry position, but it would make things more difficult. We’ve been pretty blessed so far, so its my hope that God is just waiting for the baby to be born before saying “Yes” and having a church hire us. Still, would love to have your prayers.
- It amazes me the quality of TV shows on the USA network – Psych, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, etc. How can regular networks have such junk on when cable networks can have such awesome shows?
- Took my daughter to see Shrek Forever After. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the gist – “Its a wonderful life” meets “Braveheart”. Clearly the least funny movie of the bunch, but my daughter enjoyed it.
- I also saw Avatar for the first time this week. I’m a little behind on the times I know, and it was pretty good. The story was so good and the world so well designed that it all meshed together very well and barely noticed the computerized imagery (note to George Lucas).
- Sometimes being a dad requires you to do things you never thought you do. Enough said.
- I have so many ideas running around in my head for projects to do – 3 books I’d like to write, a couple of things ministry wise I’d like to do, and some other creative stuff floating around in my head. Problem is I have TOO many good ideas, and not enough focus. There is one thing that I am on the cusp of starting, but I need someone who is great (not just good, really great) at shooting and editing video. I could do it, but I don’t know if it would be professional enough. So, if you do that (or know someone who does) and have 5-10 hours extra a week to help start an awesome new ministry, let me know! Just hit the contact button above.
- Finally, if you’re looking for a speaker for something this fall, hit me up! I’d love to come bring the gospel to your group. If you have any questions let me know.
